A woman is upset after buying meat at Walmart for stroganoff, only to cut open the beef and find two sleeping pills inside.

Court Hears of U.S. Unit Killing Afghan Civilians at Random

Members of an American Army unit consumed with drug use randomly chose Afghan civilians to kill and then failed to report the abuses out of fear they would suffer retaliation from their commander, according to testimony in military court in DC on Monday.

The soldiers are accused of possessing dismembered body parts, including fingers and a skull, and collecting photographs of dead Afghans.

“He kind of placed me and Winfield off over here so we had a clean line of sight for this guy and, you know, he pulled out one of his grenades, an American grenade, popped it, throws the grenade, and tells me and Winfield: ‘All right, wax this guy. Kill this guy, kill this guy,’ ” Specialist Morlock said in the video.

The testimony, in a hearing to determine whether one of those soldiers, Specialist Jeremy N. Morlock, would face a court-martial and a possible death sentence

Lying Robots Invented

So it begins. Researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have invented a robot which is capable of determining whether or not it should lie to humans.  While primarily being researched for use during military operations it isn’t hard to see the possible implications of having robots that can lie to you…perhaps iRobot is not to far in the future.

Dude, you have no Quran!

If you’ve been following the news over the past few weeks you’ve probably heard of the Florida Christian church who had been planning to burn the Quran on the 9th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the world trade center which coincidently fell on the last day of the holy month of Ramadan in the Islamic tradition.  It sparked a backlash and protests around the world…but more importantly funky auto-tune remixes!

Is Hacking Dead?

Apparently its not, according a number of internet security companies.

“There are not many systems these days that cannot be hacked. It is a matter of time and investment,” Felix Linder, a cyber security specialist.

Malicious computer use such as virus writing and hacking cost businesses globally more than $1 trillion each year, according to a study from computer security company McAfee. The projection is based on responses to a survey of more than 800 chief information officers of companies around the world.

But of course everyone everyones computer is at risk when your asking those companies you pay to secure your computer.  I’ve been successful in maintaining a secure computer without paying a sent to any security company.  Interestingly enough, the one problem I have ever had was a virus that froze my computer and forced me to purchase a new anti-virus program from one of the major internet security providers in order to “secure my computer”.

With the firewalls we have these days it doesn’t take more than a little common sense to keep unwanted programs from accessing your computer.

Two Blackwater Guards on Trial

Two Blackwater guards being charge by the United States Government  for murder of civilians in Afghanistan are on trial beginning today.  According to the Tehran Times:

“The U.S. government brought murder charges, alleging Drotleff and Cannon [the two Blackwater guards] fired their weapons without justification. It also claims the two had been drinking alcohol that day. “

And we wonder why they hate us…
